Fruehauf Trailers

by Staff Writer

A blacksmith and carriage builder by the name of August Charles Fruehauf built a trailer to carry a merchant’s pleasure boat in 1914. The trailer successfully completed its job, and the merchant soon asked Fruehauf to build more trailers to haul lumber. Fruehauf called these trailers “semi-trailers,” and they soon became very popular. Fruehauf incorporated his semi-trailer manufacturing company in 1918, and the Fruehauf Trailer Company has been in business ever since.

Fruehauf Trailers is now New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of heavy transport trailers. Fruehauf contributes many new designs and technologies in trailer building with the intentions of reducing weight and increasing payload capabilities. Fruehauf produces their high quality trailers in the Feilding plant on the South Island, where you can also find the head office.

Many Fruehauf trailers have made it to the United States, and can be found throughout the entire country. A great way to find a Fruehauf trailer is at TruckerToTrucker.com. There is a link under “Most Popular Searches” on the main page of their site, which will take you directly to dozens of ads posted for Fruehauf trailers.

If you own a Fruehauf trailer and wish to sell it, you can post an ad at TruckerToTrucker.com. You can purchase the right to post a single ad, 10 ads, or unlimited ads on a monthly basis. Creating a seller’s account is easy, and they even provide a quick start video demonstration to help familiarize you with their state-of-the-art system.
