Gourmet Jams
by Staff Writer
There’s a nice assortment of jams to be found in a large grocery store these days, but there are jams, and then there are gourmet jams. The difference between them is like the difference between Bombay Sapphire and bathtub gin. Once you have sampled a jam made by true artisans, everything else is just congealed fruit.
Gourmet jams often make use of interesting fruits such as blood orange, lingonberry, rhubarb, plum, rosehip and Morello cherry. Some are even made from wild berries, which have an exceptionally robust flavor. But even those that use the more common fruits such as strawberry, raspberry and grape will delight the discerning palate.
Gourmet jams are usually made in small batches, using natural pectin. Many use no added sugar, and those that do use only pure cane sugar. In most cases, they are free of preservatives, so keep them refrigerated after opening–though they aren’t likely to last long enough to go bad! Gourmet jams are often packaged in very attractive containers, which can be used after the jam is gone to hold flowers, spices, etc. That makes gourmet jams an especially thoughtful hostess gift. Their very reasonable pricing also makes gourmet jams an affordable little treat for yourself.
At Gourmet Pantry, we carry some of the finest jams available. Indulge your senses with jam from the Italian Alps or D’arbo’s Wild Lingonberry jam in its attractive old-fashioned jar. Discover how wonderful real, artisan-made jam can taste.
