Labradoodle Information

The labradoodle is a modern hybrid dog breed that originated in Australia. They say necessity is the mother of invention, and this is true of the labradoodle. The request came in to a well-known Australian guide dog company in the 1970s from a woman in Hawaii. She needed a service dog for her disabled husband, but he was very allergic to dog hair. Could they provide her with a guide dog that wouldn’t also aggravate him?

Australian dog breeders started with the poodle, which is known for being nearly hypoallergenic and non-shedding. But 30 samples of poodle hair all disturbed the poor man. Then they began working with poodle-labrador hybrids. The hair samples from resulting dog crosses left the disabled man with no ill or adverse effects. The labradoodle was born.

No matter what your specifications, we can satisfy them. Labradoodles come in several sizes and colors. There are labradoodle mini, medium and standard sizes. Labradoodles may feature red, apricot, chocolate, white or black coats. The coats themselves will most likely be in the fleece or the wool varieties.
