The first wrist watches produced by Hamilton were women’s watches, and it was not until the 1920s that men’s wrist watches became fashionable. This is another interesting link between the history of Hamilton and the history of America. It was also at this time that women’s suffrage finally achieved success, so there can be little doubt that the loosening of firmly defined gender roles had an impact on Hamilton’s changing approach to watch styles.
