The story of vintage Rolex watches begins in 1908, when Hans Wilsdorf founded the company. His innovative approach earned Rolex the first-ever wrist watch chronometer rating in 1910 from the School of Horology in Switzerland. He carried the watch industry forward by leaps and bounds with his screw down crown and casebook mechanism, keeping moisture and dust out as never before. And thus the first waterproof watches entered the market.
