Watch Restoration
by Staff Writer
Watch restoration is an art form unto itself. At Father Time Antiques, our watch restoration is conducted by Master Watchmakers with classical European training. Our staff, composed of an apprentice, three master watchmakers, and two master clockmakers, brings to bear a considerable wealth of experience and expertise. Indeed, we restore not only antique and vintage wrist watches and pocket watches, but also clocks.
There are a few things you should know about our watch restoration process. First, and foremost, we utilize only original parts when we engage in watch restoration. A vintage or antique watch is a work of art, and its component parts are testaments to the history behind its long life. The last thing a professional watchmaker should do is diminish the emotionally and financially valuable elements of antiquity.
Another point worth noting is that Father Time Antiques provides every customer with a one year warranty. Vintage and antique watches are not used cars. You may pay extra for exceptional service, but you always can be assured of the authenticity of our work–and of our word.
We are also the Midwest’s largest and most reputable retailer of antique and vintage watches and clocks, and we fully restore all the timepieces we find before turning them around to our customers. We are always eager to provide a photograph of any particular component of one of our watches. Indeed, that is really our overarching philosophy: help the customer be as informed as possible. Contact us about a particular item and we can give you a quote on full watch restoration. We can reached via email fta@sbcglobal.net. Our Chicago store is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and open Wednesday-Sunday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
