Talking Books

by Staff Writer

A misconception with audiobooks (or “talking books” as they’re sometimes called) is that they’re for those who have difficulty seeing. However, people from all walks of life enjoy the convenience of audiobooks. With a talking book, there are no pages to concentrate on or fine print to make out, and you can “read” a book while driving to work each day–or while drifting off to sleep at night.

The one downside to some audiobooks is how many CDs they require. Most need multiple discs to hold an entire book, which is a little frustrating. If you were enjoying a book while driving, for example, you’d have to stop and change CDs just to continue listening. But the talking books we rent here at Kitabe.com are a little different. We utilize the MP3 format, which allows us to condense an audiobook so it fits on one compact disc, or two or three at the very most.

Our thousands of fiction and non-fiction unabridged audiobook MP3-CDs can be played in a variety of devices. Your car CD player, home CD player, and even DVD player may already have the ability to play such CDs. If you own a portable CD player that supports MP3-CDs, our rentals allow you to listen to a book while walking or exercising without having to stop to swap CDs.

We’ve made the process of renting MP3-CD audiobooks online as easy and as affordable as possible. After registering for a monthly rental plan at Kitabe.com, you have access to our thousands of rentals and can begin adding titles to your online “Wish List.” Then, audiobooks will ship out to you one, two, or three rentals at a time, depending on your subscription plan. Finally, you can keep the rentals as long as you like, returning them in the included postage-paid envelope when you’re finished.
