Paper Craft Ideas
by Staff Writer
The creation of handmade greeting cards offers the opportunity for endless variation and personal expression. But sometimes customers of Jackkyll Scraps want to make something that is more than a card. Here are some ideas for easy paper crafts that go beyond regular cards.
For a different kind of Valentine greeting, make a flip book! Cut card stock into two-by-four-inch rectangles. You’ll want at least 32 rectangles, and the more the better, so do as many as you have patience for. Choose a small rubber stamp or identical stickers of an insect, perhaps an ant, a ladybug or a butterfly. Lay out all your pages on a work surface, and place one stamp or sticker on each page, varying the position in sequence so that when the pages are flipped, the insect scurries or flutters around. On the last page, attach a big red heart and the message, “You drive me buggy!” Punch three holes along one side of each page, and bind together with red ribbon.
At holiday time, you can combine a greeting card with a keepsake ornament. Create your personalized ornament from card stock. Then make an aperture card with an opening big enough to frame the ornament. Attach a hanging thread or ribbon to the ornament and tape it to the inside of the aperture so it hangs freely. The recipient can then remove it from the card to hang it on a tree.
Whatever craft you have in mind, Jackkyll Scraps has the paper for it. Browse through my catalog to see all the colors and textures I offer. Then visit the gallery for more inspiration. There’s no end to the paper craft ideas you can envision with card stock!
