Texas Antelope Hunts
by Staff Writer
The Trans-Pecos region of West Texas offers some of the best antelope hunting to be found anywhere in the country, with big herds of pronghorn roaming freely over large parcels of land. At Desert Safaris, we provide our clients with the opportunity to pursue these animals on over 250,000 acres of our exclusive private property on safari-style hunts with 100 percent success rates.
Relying on meticulous observation of antelope herds, you’ll work with our guides to identify a genuine trophy-quality buck as you cover many miles and encounter from 100 to 200 animals per day. On average, our clients harvest bucks that fall within the 14-inch to 16.5-inch range, with the occasional 17-inch buck making an appearance. Our pronghorn hunts are very popular and have been endorsed by knowledgeable hunting authorities including the Texas Trophy Hunters and Cabela’s Outfitter Journal programs.
In addition to pronghorn, we also offer clients to opportunity to hunt exotic antelope species such as blackbuck and addax. Both animals make excellent, distinctive trophies; the addax is recognizable for its long, wavy horns while the blackbuck is noted for its spiral-shaped ones. The addax, native to the Sahara desert, and the blackbuck, native to India, Pakistan and Nepal, are both extremely rare in their home regions. However, these animals have been thriving on private ranch lands in the arid climate of West Texas.
