Texas Deer Hunts
by Staff Writer
As all sportsmen know, the secret to harvesting a great trophy is locating the best possible hunting property–but this is not always an easy task. At Desert Safaris, we do all of the homework for you, finding the absolute best territories for deer and other big game.
Hunting opportunities abound in Texas, whether you’re interested in taking native species or exotics. In fact, Texas is home to more exotic game than any other region in the United States. Among the animals you can hunt are axis deer, sika deer, scimitar horned oryx, blackbuck antelope, fallow deer, addax, and red stag. Many of these animals are very scarce in their native countries, which include remote areas of Africa and Asia. However, Texas provides them the ideal habitat and they are currently thriving on numerous private ranches.
Mule deer, of course, is one of the top trophy animals to be found in Texas or anywhere else in the country. Their fine antlers and relatively low population in relation to other game make them especially sought-after. At Desert Safaris, we conduct our mule deer hunts over thousands of acres of land where it’s common to see up to 100 deer in a day.
