Registered Pharmacists

In order to work in most professional retail stores and hospitals, pharmacists must be registered with the state. Registered pharmacists are those who have passed their licensing exams and are subsequently allowed to legally work as professional pharmacists. Following some six years of school, the licensing exam is considered the “last step” for individuals who want to officially become pharmacists.

The requirements for registered pharmacists vary from state to state. A registered pharmacist in Florida, for instance, should not expect his license to automatically transfer to California. In fact, pharmacists are frequently expected to re-take their license exams (and are sometimes required to enroll in post graduate classes) upon relocating to another state.
