Riesling
by Staff Writer
Riesling comes from a superior white wine grape, and was initially cultivated in Germany. However, the appeal of this type of wine, as well as the hardiness of the grape, have caused the grape to be grown all over the world. Cool climates especially result in excellent Rieslings, which is why the Pacific Northwest creates some of the best Riesling vintages anywhere.
WinoWorld, which specializes in Pacific Northwest and California wines, offers a number of Rieslings, in all styles. WinoWorld has Rieslings that run the gamut from dry to sweet. People who write off Riesling as a sweet wine, suitable for only a few occasions, are far off the mark, and are doing their palates a disservice.
WinoWorld Gives You a Riesling to Live!
WinoWorld offers such bottles as a Columbia Crest 2002, which resonates with flavors of apricot and honeysuckle. Another excellent choice is the Kiona Riesling 2002, a dry wine with undercurrents of lemon wax and orange candy. Our Chateau Ste. Michelle 2004, given 90 points from Wine Enthusiast, is a textured, creamy Riesling, and sells on WinoWorld for less than $10!
Riesling goes well with savory foods, since the wine itself is sweet and polished. Rather than sticking to white wine with white foods, (i.e. fish and poultry), try this wine with various flavor combinations like pepper, ginger, winter vegetables, and rubbed pork. Established wine-and-food pairing guidelines are simply loose suggestions offered by people who have found what works for them. However, keep in mind that there are seven billion people on the planet, with seven billion different palates, and only you can determine what you love.
