There are some simple tips you can put to work right away to help you gain the advantage over the house when you play craps. First of all, the table selection can be important. Just like blackjack, tables go through definite hot and cold cycles. Take a walk around the casino before you start and look for a table where there is evidence that the players are winning. In other words, look for a table where the players have large stacks of chips in front of them. See if you can find a table where there is a shooter using a controlled throw. Betting on these shooters will give you the edge over the house.
When you bet, don’t make your betting decisions in the heat of the moment or allow your emotions run your betting. In other words, make a rational plan of action ahead of time. For example, before you hit the casino floor, decide how much you’re willing to risk and then stick to that. Don’t chase your losses or bet too heavily on a winning streak. Here are some recommended progressions to use when increasing your bet during a series of successive wins on “even money” bets. Increase your bet to the next unit level on each successive win.
Conservative Progression: 1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5-6-6
Aggressive: 1-1-2-2-2-4-4-4-8-8-8
