Commitment Rings

by Staff Writer

Commitment rings can come in any size and design, but those that embody strength, fealty and true bonding are going to have the most meaning. Celtic rings with powerful, traditional designs offer just that. The ancient Celtic tradition of bonding by oath and remaining faithful to that bond is symbolized by the knotwork, the precious metals, and the shape of the ring itself.

The Celtic Jewellery Shop has all kinds of Celtic rings, but some of the most appropriate for commitment rings are the Claddagh rings. These have been given in Ireland for centuries as as tokens of friendship and love, so the ring is already strong with tradition. These rings come in gold, sterling silver, and rose gold.

Hearts, hands, and crowns are the symbols used in these rings. They each have a different meaning, and how you wear the ring also has importance. If you wear the crown turned inwards, on your right hand, your heart is free. When you wear the crown ring on the right hand with the crown turned outwards, there is commitment. The ring worn on the left hand, crown turned outwards, implies the love of a lifetime.

Of course, other Celtic rings are also ideal for making a commitment. We offer wedding bands for men and women, as well as engagement rings, signet rings, and rings of Norse mythology. The strength and beauty symbolized by our Viking longboat rings, or the “Dragons of the Sea,” are also a way to commemorate an enduring bond.
