At the Smoky Mountain Country Club, we are open all year round. Our condos are open to rent and our Oaks Restaurant is open for business during all four seasons. We offer a wonderful New Year’s Eve package that includes a meal at our restaurant and one night of lodging. If you’re looking for a place to escape with your family or friends to celebrate, our luxurious condos are just the place. The winters here can be cold, but snow is uncommon until you reach much higher elevations, and truly cold temperatures usually only emerge at night.

With a little bundling, you can enjoy an invigorating hike. The nearby golf course is closed during the winter, but the cart trails are perfect for the ambitious hiker. There is also hiking in the Deep Creek Area of Bryson City, a short 15-minute drive away. Also 15 minutes away is the Smoky Mountain National Park. Visit the Oconaluftee Visitor Center at the entrance to the park for more great hiking. Many people enjoy winter hikes the most because their views are not blocked by full summer or autumn foliage. Altitude and attitude will determine what you can and can’t do in the mountains in the winter!

What’s more, the mountains offer great skiing in the winter months, and the Smoky Mountain Railroad is open twelve months a year. Our location offers a great vacation environment–high enough to escape sweltering summers, and far south enough to avoid bone-chilling winters.
