Bed Bugs NJ

by Staff Writer

We’re not trying to scare you here, but bed bugs are becoming an increasingly common problem. We should know–over the years we have seen our complaints about bed bugs increase dramatically in New Jersey and the surrounding area. It used to be that bed bugs were not such a significant problem for pest control professionals. Today, the opposite is true.

Hygiene is important for controlling bedbugs, but it cannot eliminate the problem completely. The major cause of the surge of bed bug infestation is the frequency of national and international travel, as hotel rooms are a major source of infestation. A motel room might see dozens of guests a week–multiply that by the number of motel and hotel rooms in the world and it is no surprise that there is an increase in bed bug infestation.

A hotel housekeeper will change the sheets, towels, and vacuum, but this will do nothing for an infestation. Bed bugs may be in the mattress itself or the headboard or even the walls. Travelers then bring these bugs back home. You’ll know you have an infestation in your own home if your mattress has mysterious spotting–this comes from the bugs’ waste products.
