Multimedia Memory Card

by Staff Writer

As digital files continue to travel upwards in file size, so too do the size limits of multimedia memory cards. There have been a number of new technologies that have emerged which have greatly increased size limits. Specifically, two types of multimedia memory cards have emerged which have changed digital storage forever.

A Compact Flash memory card is the type of multimedia memory card that is used in portable devices such as digital cameras and Pocket PCs. Small and square, these 50-pin cards insert in to a digital camera and are the industry standard for all digital photography. Compact Flash technology supports file storage up to 12 GB, but cards that have limits of two to five gigabytes are more common. With that size, one can take thousands of pictures without having to download them onto a computer.

Another type of multimedia card is the memory stick (also called a USB pen). These devices connect to a computer via USB, and provide their users with multiple gigabyte file transfer safely and efficiently. In fact, multimedia memory stick transfer is one of the fastest ways to transfer data from computer to computer. Memory sticks are popular with businesspeople whose professions require them to use multiple computers.

Synchrotech has virtually every type of multimedia memory card ever made. They not only carry today’s newest technologies, but also stock out-of-date multimedia cards and card readers. They assist small and mid-sized businesses that want to update their antiquated data storage mediums by providing these businesses with out-of-stock media cards and card readers.
