Celtic Cross Jewelry
by Staff Writer
Celtic cross jewellery always gets a second glance, because the Celtic cross is a symbol that embodies art, beauty, and grace. No one knows the origins of the Celtic cross. Some say St. Patrick drew a cross into the round symbol of the moon goddess, but this could merely be myth. The reality of the cross, however, is that it has universal appeal, especially when it’s rendered in gold, platinum and silver.
The Celtic Jewellery Shop sells a whole range of Celtic cross jewellery, from pendants and rings to earrings and even a stunning kilt pin. This jewellery is available in silver and gold. Inspired by the stone crosses of Scotland and Ireland, our Celtic crosses come in a number of styles. In some, the cross is the predominant feature, while other designs have the circle and cross balanced in size.
We hand make an Iona Celtic cross pendant as part of our collection. This pendant looks lustrous in gold, and was designed after the Celtic crosses on the isle of Iona. On this cross, the circle is large, touching the edges of the arms of the cross, making the design imposing.
At the other end of the spectrum from the Iona cross is the Cross of Cong pendant. This is inspired by the unique lines of the Cross of Cong in Shannon. This cross is graceful, elongated, and very feminine. By itself, the pendant is lovely; with the Cross of Cong drop earrings, however, the effect is very Gaelic and very striking.
