Diving In Fiji

As far as extreme sports go, scuba diving is perhaps not the most glamorous option available. Slow (compared at least to a sport like windsurfing), easy to learn and, above all, fun for amateur and expert alike, it has little of the edgy hipster appeal of some of its water sport counterparts. The truth, however, is that scuba diving is every bit as rewarding an activity as any other sport–especially when the dive takes place in a great area.

For beginning scuba divers, Fiji provides a variety of different hotels and internationally certified diving organizations. These can provide either introductory or more advanced courses, depending on your desires. Once certified, a prospective diver will find that Fiji is peppered with excellent spots, most of which can be accessed by boat or even just by wandering off the shore with the right equipment.

For more advanced divers, Fiji offers plenty of challenges, including deep sea and wreck diving. The sheer variety of its different islands is second to none in the diving world. Finally, for those people interested in simply snorkeling around on the surface and enjoying what they can see from up there, Fiji is again an excellent destination, and offers gear and locations galore.
