Robert Trent Jones Golf Course
by Staff Writer
Robert Trent Jones has designed some of the most well-known golf courses in the United States and the world. With roughly 500 golf courses to his name, Robert Trent Jones has inspired entire movements in golf course design and engineering. Trent Jones was known for designing the Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta, Hazeltine National Golf Course in Minnesota, and redesigning the world famous Augusta National course in Georgia.
Robert Trent Jones collaborated with his son on seven golf courses during his lifetime. One of the most renowned and award winning courses to come out of this collaboration was the course at Winchester Country Club. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains in Northern California, Winchester Country Club also features some of the most luxurious homes and scenic home sites in the state.
The 18-hole course at Winchester Country Club has received accolades from the top golf publications. Golf Digest called the Winchester course the 13th best course in California, and the best course in the Sacramento area. The course also received nods for design variety, conditioning, scoring and aesthetics.
When scoring the top golf course communities in the country, the quality of the golf always comes first. While Winchester Country Club offers excellent housing options, it’s the golf that really matters to many of the residents. Membership is offered exclusively to residents of this golfing community, with corporate non-resident memberships extended on a case-by-case basis. The course is known for its signature 15th hole and the difficulty of the 10th hole, as well as for its outstanding scenery amidst the beautiful Sierra Mountains.
