Cook Island Vacation Packages

by Staff Writer

Though the Cook Islands are made up of 15 islands, most visitors concern themselves with just two of these mini-paradises: Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Now officially part of New Zealand, the population of both islands is made up primarily of the Maori people, known all over the world for their friendliness and genuinely joyous hospitality. Proud of their Polynesian past, both Rarotonga and Aitutaki people enjoy introducing Westerners to their inviting, relaxing culture and customs.

Rarotonga is often compared to Tahiti, in terms of its geography. Rugged cliffs, azure waters and sandy beaches make it a breathtaking spot. Aitutaki, on the other hand, is likened to Bora Bora. Enclosed nearly completely by a lagoon, the surrounding sea life is extraordinary. Luxe resorts exist side-by-side with more modest accommodations. Either island is a traveler’s dream.

Time moves more slowly here, which can be frustrating to some Westerners used to “on-the-double” service. But for those really looking to get away and enjoy life more slowly for a brief bit of time, there is no finer escape than the Cook Islands. Don’t be fooled, however, into thinking that there’s nothing here to do but sleep and eat (and eat well, mind you)–there’s enough snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, shopping and sightseeing possible to make you glad your days seem longer.

Visitors to the Cook Islands don’t have to worry about packing Maori phrasebooks. These are English-speaking people, and since their number one industry is tourism, they are well-versed in making their guests feel welcome and comfortable. At Avaunt Travel, we are Cook Island vacation specialists. We are delighted to share our twenty years of knowledge with you to build your perfect Cook Island vacation, whether you’re wanting hour-by-hour and day-by-day itineraries, or simply air and hotel reservations. Wherever it is you want to go, Avaunt Travel can take you there.
